Humiliation

The camera follows her down the long walkway, out the gates and through the parking lot.

She shields herself with her long hair. Her face is red from crying, but she stands straight and never stumbles as they push the camera closer. The older woman with her, probably her mother, looks my way.

"Humiliating I guess," she says.

The cameraman and woman with him hurry to catch the girl, hoping to squeeze another tear before she gets in the car.

Finally they head back into Churchill Downs. The woman looks at the cameraman, "I thought she was going to say something."

She didn't.
