The cars are slowly leaving the parking lot. An hour ago a contestant estimated there were 40 or so competitors left. Now they trickle out, two or three at a time every 15 minutes or so. They text, call and sing. A few, very few, even smile. Maybe one in ten makes it past today, a contestant estimated earlier. The others simply leave.
